Burcot & Clifton Hampden for the Protection of the River Thames
The proposed site area has been changed in the quarry company’s most recent plans submitted, see below or go to: new site map. Hills have proposed a smaller site, (104 hectares) but have still purchased the 160 hectares of land in their original plans, and have prepared a digging plan that lends itself to future extensions. Every current quarry in the county has been granted extensions to the surrounding land in the years after the initial application was granted; Appleford, Ducklington and Standlake are examples of this to name but a few.
The previously proposed site is shown in the map below, taken from the Oxfordshire County Council website. The quarry in this map would be ~8 times the size of the village, with an area of 160 hectares. https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/cms/public-site/planning (Search ref: MW.0045/14)
